“The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger, but He will reject the craving of the wicked.” Proverbs 10:3 NASB
In Proverbs 10, Solomon spend most of his time contrasting the righteous with the wicked. He paints a clear, albeit somewhat drastic picture. There is little I find more frightening and sadder than the picture of an angry God who is not on my side. On July 8, 1741 Colonial Pastor Jonathan Edwards preached a message to his congregation called “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.” According to one author, “Jonathan Edwards’s purpose in delivering the sermon…is to warn his congregation in particular, and presumably, by extension, his nation as a whole, that they must repent of their sinful ways and turn to God for forgiveness before it is too late.” I’m not an alarmist but I do believe there are consequences for sin, certainly individually but also corporately. I see an ugliness in people today that I believe seriously grieves God’s heart. It grieves yours, too, doesn’t it?
