Proverbs 1:1 NIV

“The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:”

Historians are all over the board when it comes to Solomon and David. They all agree they existed however many disagree on the when, where and what of their story. Thankfully for us, as people of faith, that is not an issue. God introduces us to them in His word. Jesus refers to them clearly in His teaching. “A proverb is a short sentence that people often quote, which gives advice or tells you something about life.” For the past 2 and a half years we have looked at all of Solomon’s 915 verses in the Book of Proverbs. That’s a lot of life advise from the second wisest person (after Jesus) who ever lived. We often operate as if wisdom is magically bestowed on God’s followers. There is no doubt that He offers it supernaturally at times. However, I’ve often wondered if He does that to those who ignore the readily accessible wisdom gained throughout scripture starting with the words of Jesus and including these 915 sayings of Solomon. James, Jesus half brother, tells that whoever lacks wisdom just needs to ask and our heavenly Father will generously supply it. Here it is in Proverbs. Today recommit to a steady, daily, diet of God’s wisdom. #BeTheEdge

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬
