“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.”
Recently in Forbes there was an article on companies that failed or suffered significant hard times unnecessarily. They became victims of the CEO’s hubris. Everything from tech, automotive, social media and even sports franchises were damaged when the pride of the CEO caused them to believe their own press. You can probably name a few of these companies and their CEO’s. Hubris is excessive pride or self confidence. The article stated, “Hubris leads to poor decision-making as the CEO’s reputation for unending success and status must be maintained. Hubris damages the CEO and the brand.” Let God be true says, “An arrogant, conceited, or haughty person will make costly mistakes, but a humble and modest man will clearly see right and wrong, truth and error, wisdom and folly.” No one really enjoys or desires to follow this person as they drag the ship down. Humility includes the wisdom to know that the team is vital. It also reminds us that first and foremost all success and the skills and talents it takes to do our job well are gifts, not from us, from the creator. That should help us start from a firm place of humility. Anything we achieve is a reflection of His gifts to us. In response to that understanding we share those gift with those around us. We also recognize the strength of others in “our” success. Today walk in the power and victory of humility. #BeTheEdge
