“Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb! Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!”
This is vitally important to this mother. So important that she repeats the demand three times. Listen, listen, listen. If you have children you get it. In the Gospels we see Jesus often starting His instructions with the declaration “Verily, verily.” In the original it was “Amen, amen”. He started the instruction with this which we use to end our prayers. When He used it it was an emphatic, “Don’t miss this.” The writer of this portion of Proverbs reflects what many of us with children have experienced. We share something of vital importance with our child. It may be about safety or behavior or any of a dozen other lessons we believe are critical to their growth and development. In a world full of noise and distraction we sometimes feel the need to take their face in our hands, look them directly in the eyes, wait for a sign of recognition and then clearly article our message. Jesus does the same. Today God, through His Holy Spirit, looks for that same level of focus as He instructs and leads us through our journey representing His Kingdom. Today don’t miss this. #BeTheEdge
“Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.” Mark 8:25 NIV
