“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.”
I just heard the governor of Florida say that rescuers—everyone from local law enforcement and the National Guard to neighbors and other citizens—have saved over 378 people whose lives were in danger from the hurricane. Can you imagine the feeling of purpose and significance they felt from saving a life? My longtime accountability partner is an emergency room physician with over 40 years of experience. I’ve talked with him about the lives he saves daily. It is amazing to ponder the eternal and mortal significance of a life at the very edge of eternity being rescued. Solomon tells us that it is a wise person who saves lives. Delayed or not, every person who ever lived or is currently alive will face physical death. There is no getting around it. When we do, the real question about life is answered. As Paul tells us, physical life is important, but eternal life is much more important. Scripture also tells us that after our physical death, we will move into eternal life or eternal death. The truly wise seek to reach those headed for an eternity separated from God and point them toward eternal life with our Savior in heaven. Today, choose wisely. #BeTheEdge
