Proverbs 1:21 NIV

“on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech:”

You don’t have to be an evangelist to feel heartache as you watch the people in the world rushing off the cliff into the abyss. In this verse Solomon introduces wisdom as a woman and the word for ‘cries out’ implies her anguish at watching the lost racing to eternity in hell. As a follower of God who has the heart of God we too should be impassioned in our desire to reach and rescue the lost. Too often we choose anger, judgment or even arrogance as we watch the lost act…well, lost. You see rather than consider the lost to be fools, though they are, we are to feel compassion and do what we can to intercept their story. God models this by showing His great love for them by sending His son to die for them while the were busy ignoring Him. Years ago before a new staff started working with me in ministry at a local junior or senior high school I would have them sit outside the school and pray for the lost and hurting students until they were moved to tears. It might take a day or a month but I wanted to know they truly understood the issue they were facing. And that it broke their heart like it did their saviors. It is a valuable exercise in our biblical obedience to ponder when we were last broken over the situation of the lost or even struggled to sleep over a loved one or friend who did not know the Lord. Today let the Lord break your heart for the lost in your life and your company. #BeTheEdge
