“For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;”
This verse, which is often repeated by the prophets and included in the 5th commandment, does not mean we will always own our property. Solomon was talking about the physical location of Canaan that was promised to Abraham but he was also referring to our heavenly home. He is telling the reader how to have a comfortable and peaceful place to live on earth as a result of living a holy, God honoring life in their community. However we know there are plenty of poverty stricken believers around the globe. This verse is also for them. It is certainly a beautiful picture when a town is filled with this type of follower of God. It is obvious that this promise must have an eternal value. Today many cities seem to be rocked by crime, unrest and sad stories. That is a heartbreaking picture. Thankfully as we live lives that honor God in the midst of these worldly circumstances we can continue to represent our King and His Kingdom while looking forward to a promised new city with Him one day. This verse is about us living an upright and blameless life. Today let the Hy Spirit do that work in you. #BeTheEdge
“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12 NIV
