Remember Anna Delvey? She was the 28 year old German heiress who was opening the $40 million private art gallery and club in New York. Until she wasn’t. I mean she not only wasn’t going to open the art gallery but she also wasn’t German, an heiress and wasn’t Anna Delvey. She was actually the daughter of a Russian truck driver, her name is Anna Sorokin and she was just found guilty of many crimes for swindling money, lying and multiple others stemming from her desire to have wealth, popularity and all the other trappings associated with being the typical millionaire heiresses. At least that’s what I hear. This kind of pretending will always catch up to us. Whether it is about wealth, status, knowledge or accomplishment there is only so long that someone can pull it off. It is especially difficult in this day of Google and the extensive internet world. The truth of one’s life is usually pretty available. Solomon tells us what should be obvious. In his day it was much more common to have wealth and hide it. To show it then was the surest way to lose it. With all this being said it seems his main point in this verse was not moral judgment about either lifestyle at the time. It was more a challenge to simply be genuine, to be who you are. A reminder to live in integrity and walk in the light. Today neither flash nor showy austerity are particularly interesting, live to reflect your savior. #BeTheEdge
