Proverbs 15:16NIV

“Better a little with the fear of the Lord than great wealth with turmoil.”

Simplifying your life, decluttering, and a dozen other similar ideas pop up under an internet search about how to live a peaceful life. None of these are bad ideas and they may add a degree of peace and lower our stress for sure. A healthy respectful fear of God was not on any of the lists. The idea that inner peace comes from any of these things is a cruel deception. They may improve things for a bit but they will always come up short in the end. Without a love for and an obedient walk with God we will never find the peace we desire. Until the Prince of Peace is seated on the throne of one’s heart they will always be searching and unsettled. Wealth in and of itself does not create turmoil. Wealth that is used to replace a dependence on God causes constant turmoil and unrest. The management of wealth can bring stress on even a committed believer however as it is stewarded for God His peace can settle into their soul. Paul reminds us that being content with little or much is the normal state of God’s faithful followers. Today find your value in being a child of God and be at peace. #BeTheEdge
