“A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.”
A friend and I were talking about our children and grandchildren. That’s what men of a certain age and stage do. In the course of that discussion he mentioned one of his siblings kids who at 40 years of age is struggling to live his life as an adult. He mentioned how the young man (maybe middle aged man) refused to make any necessary changes in his life for survival purposes. Rather he continued to make poor choices and claim they were all his parents fault. The reality is that 25 years ago that might have been partially true. We parents of millennials definitely contributed to their current condition. The whole ‘everybody gets a trophy’ and ‘it’s the teachers fault not my kids’ thing. However at some point we all have to learn from the imperfection of our parents or whatever we would blame and take responsibility for our faith in God and our decisions about living. Most of us have experienced at some point both the pain of a child’s poor decision and the joy of their wise ones. Making bad decisions to teach someone else a lesson is a really bad decision. I suspect reading that last sentence might make a few of us cringe. Today let the Spirit of God drive your decisions and you be a blessing to all who have the joy of watching. #BeTheEdge
