“Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”
This is about being blessed and happy. It is encouraging us to be sure we follow God’s teaching. However, it is inferring that there is not a second way to achieve those things as well. In the same way that Jesus is the only way to salvation, following and trusting God are the firm preconditions that He sets for us. People have been known to try many conventional things to achieve happiness. Some may actually work for a little while and bring temporary results. Some also try sinful and even bizarre things to find it. In the end only God’s will done God’s way brings lasting happiness and blessing. This is where we discover that maturity is not as much about age, as it is about discovering this truth and walking in it. The sooner we stop looking for the results God promises in the wrong places and only look to Him will we begin walking in real maturity.
