“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
When I watch grown men confront this verse, this overarching biblical truth, I am reminded of my years in youth ministry. Not only can it be a struggle to commit *all* our plans, but trusting Him to *establish* what we think are our desired results can be daunting as well. Bibleref says about this verse, “When someone’s efforts are fully entrusted to God’s will and His control—when they are ‘committed’ to Him—those labors are less likely to cause their own downfall.” What this quote reminds us of is that even though we might believe we know the best outcomes for our lives, we really don’t. Only God, in His divine and eternal insight, truly knows what is the best course for our journey. We all want the same destination: eternity with Him and our loved ones in heaven. The best course to arrive there is where the challenge lies. Missionary work in Africa used to be the frightening route we saw God sending us on, but today, that doesn’t frighten people the way it used to. We all have a course we desire. The key is to desire God’s course for our life, regardless of what we think we want. Then we will walk in true peace, joy, and victory. And really, isn’t that what we ultimately want? Today, turn *it*, whatever ‘it’ is, over to Him. #BeTheEdge
