Proverbs 16:30 NIV

“Whoever winks with their eye is plotting perversity; whoever purses their lips is bent on evil.”

I have been very intentional to develop facial expressions that instantly communicate with my grandchildren. They know when I’m being serious (seldom) or teasing (often) or experiencing pure joy (can’t hide that one). By early in our lives we become somewhat capable of a quick read of another person by their facial expressions. Throw in their voice tone and body language and it becomes difficult to fool someone no matter what is coming out of their mouth. In a world filled with deception it can be very refreshing to encounter those whose expressions match their words regularly. The three types of liars are the “narcissistic liar who demands attention, yet the lies that he or she create always deny responsibility and accountability for their actions. They are driven by ego. The Sociopathic liars are the most damaging types of liars because they lie on a routine basis without conscience and often without reason. Finally is the pathetic liar who wants to be liked and creates deception in order to avoid conflict and have coworkers like him or her.” (Dr. Shannon Bowen) As we can see these people who use any means possible to spread their evil are the very ones Solomon cautions us about that wink, nod, cajole or use any other means to deceive and trick others. Scripture tells us that our yes needs to mean yes and our no needs to be no. That simple. We need to be men and women of our word. I recently heard of one of The Edge partner companies given an out legally from what originally looked like a great idea but, after giving their word, didn’t look as potentially lucrative. Because they gave their word they stood by the arrangement. Thats how God’s people behave. Today let your words and the truth align as you represent your King. #BeTheEdge

“All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.” Jesus
