Proverbs 18:1 NIV

“An unfriendly person pursues selfish ends and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.” Proverbs 18:1 NIV

Tuesday was “National Be Kind to A Grouch” day. I had no idea there was such a thing, but I sent a message to my kids that I would be working from my house a good bit that day and I liked Krispy Kreme Chocolate Iced Cream filled doughnuts. This past Halloween I told my young grandkids I was going to dress up as a grumpy old man and yell, “Get off my lawn, kid.” They didn’t understand and looked down at their feet since they didn’t have any idea what a lawn was. Now to my point – it is very selfish to cut yourself off from others. Usually, it shows a lack of willingness to admit fault, or even more, it can show an unwillingness to overlook wrongs and to forgive. Sometimes it can be as simple as not wanting to exert the effort to learn another’s story. As an introvert, I get it. It makes me sad to see someone eating at a restaurant by themself or going alone to a movie. I begin to feel great empathy for the sadness in their life. Then I realize that at times I prefer to do both of those things alone. We were built for community. God’s design is that we interact and grow with each other. We are challenged to put in the work to be a positive part of the communities He has called us to. Today, look at those in your journey with you, make the effort to stay connected, and bless them. #BeTheEdge

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…” Hebrews 10:24-25a NIV
