“From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.”
Is there anything more satisfying than being in a good conversation. Some of my favorite memories are when I sit with a few friends eating chips and dip or something else tasty while sipping an ice tea and talking about the deeper things of life. A few years ago a couple buddies and I traveled to a rural part of Oregon and sat on a good friends back deck overlooking the valley spread below his home and discussed life and the realities of the God we serve. To this day we all reflect on truths that bubbled up and captured our hearts and spirits. One theologian references the comfort and satisfaction Solomon is referring to in this verse. As I look back over the past decades of my life some of the fondest and most powerful times were had at the beach, the lake, in the mountains or even at a cafe table by a busy street. Where they take place is not nearly as impactful though as who we are with and what is discussed. There are laughs, tears and thoughtful moments of quiet pondering. As I write this I’m saddened to believe there are those who never have a chance to experience the truth of this verse. Without the presence of God in at least one participant there is a ceiling on how powerful these times can be. The pondering of the deeper things of The Kingdom are what brings the transformational quality to these times. Today find these people in your story and carve out time to reflect together. #BeTheEdge
