“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”
I love making plans. I even enjoy pursuing those plans. Over a few decades I’ve learned that when they are my plans they take lots of time, much effort, encounter major obstacles and never work out like I thought they would. I know, slow learner. Solomon tells us what took me too long to learn. When I can discern the Lords plans they may still encounter obstacles, often require effort but they always result in the outcome He desires. That’s a pretty significant difference. Planning is good. It’s actually biblical as long as we don’t do it to the exclusion of God. Our goal in life should be to align our lives with God’s calling (plan) for our lives. Therefore as much as we plan we need to be sure that prior to our planning we engage in conversation with our Heavenly Father. From Him we receive our marching orders and we design a plan that is consistent with His truth. He wants us searching out how to move forward whether in our marriage, parenting, finances or spiritual growth. He has a perfect plan. We have the privilege of being in a journey to discover it and walk in it. We do not know all of His intimate plan for our journey next year. He reveals it as though unfolding a map. That’s where faith comes in. Today seek God’s leading and work the plan. #BeTheEdg
