“A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.”
I’m so glad you and I don’t gossips. By the way did you hear about…. You see we all have that tendency. I sat with one of the godliest men I know. We were talking about our need to be consistently involved in our local church. At some point one of our area churches came up and before we knew it we slipped into a conversation that felt an awful lot like it was bordering on gossip. The same lists that tell us that those who practice adultery and murder and homosexuality and many other “biggies” won’t get into the Kingdom of Heaven also lists gossips. In light of the nails driven into Jesus hands, every sin swung the hammer just the same. One reason gossips make the list is because they do as much or more damage to the body of Christ and the perception of God’s followers as any other sin that nailed Jesus to the cross. It will destroy relationships faster than many other sins. Solomon tells us that a key give away of a gossip is that they talk too much. Too much means unnecessarily and when they really should just be quiet and listen. Everyone of us are prone to gossip. Today don’t. #BeTheEdge
