“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.”
Aa one of the oft quoted and most powerful verses of Proverbs, especially for business leaders the picture is the warrior doing all he can to have his battle horse as prepared as possible to do his job with excellence but understanding that the ultimate outcome rests in God’s hands. The temptation might be to prepare a bit less ‘since’ the outcome is already sealed or at the very least the final outcome is up to God not our preparation. This is such a broken and dangers non Kingdom perspective. We serve a God of excellence. As His followers, His representatives, everything we do should reflect His excellence. With that in mind the clear focus of Solomon is on the truth that all of our battles are the Lords and all of our victories are His as well. Ultimately He gives victory to whomever He chooses and at times the victor is the one who may seem less prepared. A kid with stones and a sling shot verses a giant with a huge spear for example. Solomon knew that story of His dad and also knew the victory was because God sent David into that battle and told him exactly what he would need for victory. Today listen to your King, prepare to your best and let it be God’s battle. #BeTheEdge
