“Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations.”
This Christmas we consider the only one who can make the truly guilty, innocent. And, we were all guilty. Tonight we prepare for the celebration of the birth of the highly anticipated redeemer of the human race. More importantly we look forward to what his birth started and means for all of us who have come to know Him personally. If you have ever heard me speak on Christmas either as a youth minister or when I pastored you would know that I never tell the Christmas story without ending it on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. If Jesus’ birth was not followed 33 years later with the sacrifice on the cross and the stamp of His Fathers approval when He raised Him from the dead three days later, Christmas was nothing more than the birth of a child to a teen mom that we would never have heard about. Christmas is about Easter. Easter is about cleansing us from our sin and guilt. It restores us to the condition of clean innocence. Pretty amazing. More often than not we will hear the evil one tell us, the no longer guilty, that we are guilty. Don’t hear that lie this Christmas. Today be sure your life has been cleansed by the baby in the manger and celebrate the gift of guilt free innocence in Him. #BeTheEdge
