Proverbs 26:14 NIV

“As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed.”

The thing about door hinges in Solomons day, as well as in ours, is they never really went anywhere. And neither did the door. They rotate back and forth. They allowed others to move through and make progress. Just like the slugger rolling over in bed, hinges went back-and-forth, even at times, groaning and moaning, a little bit like the slugger rolling around, But, they never improve their life circumstances or anyone else’s. They existed pretty much for a life of ease. A lot of spiritual sickness occurs that where one is set to choose what was easy and just maintain an that life. Giving as little effort spiritually as possible. As a result, there is little to no growth or improvement in the spiritual condition of that person. As the door appears to have found a safe place to hang out and maintain a minimal existence, even though it appears purposeful, so too does the spiritually lazy. They find a very comfortable range to move around in their spiritual life, but never venture beyond the simple. That lazy person at one time or another intends to get up but instead they fall back in bed, or to a simple easy, lazy life until one day they come to the end and get a glimpse, as they look back, of what they missed out on. Even if they don’t get that glimpse, they certainly missed out on an awful lot of what God has to offer those of us who press on, battle through challenges and difficulties as we pursue God’s high calling on our lives. Today don’t be satisfied with the easy or the lazy. #BeTheEdge
