This is an agricultural description of the cycle of life. It is necessary for the farmer to work the process. If they, in laziness, ignore any part of their responsibility to this cycle not only will the crops fail and the animals not be fed but they themselves will go hungry as well. God’s creation of seasons in all things is an amazing gift and lesson for us. Not only did He establish His creation of nature with the concept of changing seasons and life cycles but He created our journey through life on them as well. Preparing for, growing through and wisely moving through each stage of the life journey is a powerful part of God’s design for all of us. The mid-life crisis is a classic example of someone who refused to prepare for and move boldly through that particular stage of God’s design. There are others common to all of us. Even more intriguing are the unique stages each of us pass through. The loss at a young age of a child, parent or spouse sets those involved up for their own somewhat unique stage to travel through. Thankfully, for every stage of the common and unique life cycles God gives perfect counsel, mostly in His word but also through brothers and sisters who speak His wisdom into our story.
