Proverbs 28:14 NIV

“Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.”

“In Jesus Christ on the Cross there is refuge; there is safety; there is shelter; and all the power of sin upon our track cannot reach us when we have taken shelter under the Cross that atones for our sins.” (A.C. Dixon) Some translations use the word fear in this verse. The trembling or fear is not in response to God but to sin. There are places where we are clearly admonished to fear God however, here a proper understanding of the consequences of sin in our life is Solomon’s point. If we ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to us when we contemplate sin we ultimately grow hard to Him. Sin begins to find a comfortable place in our life. Trouble, danger and destruction become our destiny. This verse demonstrates the clear options we face between fearing or flaunting sin. One leads to joy and the other to destruction. It should not be that difficult of a choice but, of course it is. Understanding the consequences of sin should cause great fear and trembling. The dangers of walking outside the protective relationship with God should be the most frightening thing we can imagine. Today walk in obedience to and the protection of you Father. #BeTheEdge
