Proverbs 28:20 NIV

By August 28, 2023No Comments

“A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.”

I love the synonyms for faithful. Check out this partial list: loyal, constant, true, devoted, true-blue, unswerving, unwavering, steadfast, dedicated, committed, trusted, dependable, reliable. I have to say these are great adjectives. I hope all my friends, staff, and others in my orbit see me as this person. However, more than that I want to be this person in the eyes of my savior. The original Hebrew for this verse tells us that a faithful man is true to God. The second part of this verse reflects the unfaithful person. That person chases wealth and possessions but does it in a way that is not honoring to God nor is it done by God‘s design for their life. It can be easy to do. Well it may not be easy to do, but it is certainly easy to want to do. Obviously everybody who chases wealth by any means doesn’t always get it. Very often they don’t. But even those who do, when it is not done by God’s design, end up miserable and even more broken. Solomon wants us to know that when we live faithful trustworthy lives our rewords come in the form of blessings, highlighted by the fruit of the Spirit. Today be faithful and true to God, and trust the results in your life to him. #BeTheEdge
