“If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.”
Tough truth time. I’ve been dealing with a physical challenge with my foot. It has literally taken 2 ½ years to reach this point of improvement. When I first went to the doctor about it, he said it should take about two weeks to heal. Considering my 40 years of diabetes and the transplant medications I’m on, the healing process has obviously been much slower than it used to be. Not long ago, I read a passage from 1 Peter that made a strong connection between our obedience when God speaks to us and His answering our prayers. There are things God has been challenging me to address in my walk with Him. I don’t believe God ever ignores our prayers, but I do believe there are times when they’re not answered as we would desire because God wants us to allow the tension of our situation to get us to listen closely and align our lives more closely with His instructions. Furthermore, this passage says that if we ignore God’s instructions, our prayers are not just annoying to Him, but actually detestable. I don’t like that thought at all. My take on that is that ignoring the work God wants to do in our lives can result in us walking on our own in areas, while God waits for us to hear Him. I certainly understand that as a parent. If answering my child’s request would continue to prop up bad behavior, I would not answer. The ultimate truth here is that everything God does in our story is out of love for us and His desire for us to become more like His Son. About a month ago I focused significant attention on addressing areas I knew God wanted me to in my life. The injury has significantly begun to improve. Today, listen, respond, and receive His blessing. #BeTheEdge
