“Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear up:”.
‘Bible Ref’ explains the heart of this and the following passages telling us “the point is that suddenly transposing an unqualified person to authority brings unwanted consequences”. Who in business has not witnessed this? We have referred to this at times as the “Peter Principle”. “The Peter Principle was first identified by Dr Laurence J. Peter, a sociologist, lecturer and business consultant, in his 1968 book of the same name. It states, “In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence.” Mindtools The Edge ministry offers a tool that helps a person discover how God created them, core values, gifts and talents, to help them ascertain their correct position in the workplace. Scripture clearly tells us that we each have a calling, and living that out to its fullest supersedes the desire to climb the corporate ladder. It is admirable to move to higher responsibility and leadership through diligently doing our job. It is also admirable to achieve positions of greater impact because we develop and work hard at utilizing every gift and talent God has given us. It is a wise person who walks so intimately with their Savior that they are aware when the role they are in suits how they were made. Today be excellent at your calling and serve God and others where you are. #BeTheEdge
