Proverbs 31:29 NIV

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

I’m thinking that we can all agree this guy was pretty overwhelmed with his wife. Reading this chapter makes it easy to see why. It’s a pretty high bar. However I’m always amazed by how many women I know who are like this woman. Lots of my friends wives, many of The Edge women business leaders, my daughter and my own wife, before she passed, are great examples of the Proverbs 31 women. Because over the past 28 months we have spent at least one day each month dealing with the women in this chapter, today I want to broaden the writers point. He is differentiating between those who at times do noble things and this woman of noble character. Almost everyone will occasionally do something good and even worthy of praise. Sometimes it can be by accident or because it serves their purpose. Often it is because they do care about the person or people they do it for. In the book of Matthew Jesus tells us that even an evil father would not give his child a stone when he asks for bread. The woman exalted in this chapter and verse operates on character built by God’s Word. When our life is owned by God, permeated and controlled by His Spirit, the outcome of our life is a pattern of Godly behavior in life, work and family. Today live the Spirit filled life. #BeTheEdge
