Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB

In my many years of sharing a morning thought from Proverbs, I have adhered to a few principles in style and content. One is that it is always one verse. The depth in every single verse is amazing and to use more than one at a time seems somehow wasteful. I only violated that principle once that I recall, and it was a few years ago with these very verses. Although each is powerful alone something seems very wrong not to share them as two important parts of a whole. Trust completely in God, not at all in yourself apart from Him, recognizing that you are dependent on Him alone. Then your journey will receive His clear direction. Or as Peterson puts it in The Message, “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.” That is a clear challenge with a powerful promise. The world is out of control, but God isn’t. Today, find rest in this truth. #BeTheEdge
