“Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.”
Solomon is telling us to live a pure life in marriage. He extols the pleasure of guilt free, appropriate sex within the God defined boundaries. God did not set these boundaries to deprive us of full access to all the rewards of sex. His creation by the way. But like the owners Manuel to a high preference vehicle which clearly shows how to maximize their creation and avoid damage that will ultimately lead to its breaking down God gives us similar instruction for all areas of life. In todays world we witness the damage of human glands driving the physical life of so many. Our culture today fights to destroy all God’s parameters not only in sex but everything they determined is to limit one’s “freedom”. As a result there seems to be no limit to their approval for destructive activities. We also see the impact on the loss of intimacy, lack of commitment and the lives of children. Because this is not a political statement the response needs to be individual and personal. God is not calling us to battle others sin. He is challenging us individually to look into our hearts and, where necessary, repent and change. Has He called you to battle these issues in society at large? Great. But even that must begin in your own heart. Today let God confront your sin. #BeTheEdge
