“But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself.”
This person is destitute of moral principles and “the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason.” The consequence or sin, adultery as well as all others, is ultimately death. It can be physical but it is always spiritual. Spiritually it is our soul for eternity or Jesus on the cross. One way or the other someone will die for our sin. As a believer when we sin our intimacy with God is blocked. Not because He is unable to connect with us but because He refuses to. Until the brokenness becomes more painful than the pleasure of sin we actually choose to be in that state of separation. It is an act of love by God to not hear our prayers while we wallow in sin. Scripture tells us that when we treasure sin in our heart He will not hear our prayer. It is painful as a child to live broken from free lines of communication and interaction with our parents. It is the same with our Heavenly Father. Once we confess and repent of our sin the lines of communication and blessing are restored. Today as God’s spirit convicts you of your sin quickly confess and reconnect. #BeTheEdge
