Proverbs 7:19 NIV

“My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.”

Someone had a small amount of cocaine in the White House the other day. Who wouldn’t believe that was a private spot. It is now the lead on numerous news shows and they will probably be exposed. How many sins would not be committed if the person committing it knew they would be found out? I’m guessing at least a few. In this verse Solomon shows us an example of someone tempting another person to sin by telling them they won’t get caught. This woman is trying to tempt a young man into sexual sin and one of her strategies is to let him know that her husband is out of town and won’t be back before they are finished with their sinning. There is no shortage of ways to hide our sin. However history proves what scripture tells us – your sin will be revealed. This guy believed this woman when she said that his sin would remain hidden yet here he is for all eternity revealed in the 7th chapter of Proverbs. We may not know his name but he is out there as the example of foolishness. The front page of the newspaper and every form of social media spills the beans on peoples supposed “hidden” sins every moment of every day. There is no safe place for sin. Safety is found in walking faithfully with Jesus. Today live wisely and avoid sin. #BeTheEdge
