“My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.”
In the past there was serious doubt that I would ever see this day. Today I turn 65. I know that because of the 1000’s of Medicare calls and letters I’ve been receiving. As a Juvenal Diabetic since the 1960’s there was much reason to doubt this many turns around the Sun in my future. Thankfully part of God’s promised fruit in my journey was not only amazing medical advancements in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes but also a transplant 13 years ago that cured my disease completely. Many people, even some in the medical field, do not realize that is even possible. Before I received that great gift my life expectancy at the time maxed out at 5 to 7 years with a miserable last few. Now I’m healthier than you. Ok maybe not but I’m in pretty good shape for a 65 year old man who lived as a diabetic for 40 years. In reality this devo is not about me. I’m obviously using one of the most personal examples to show what Solomon is teaching about is God’s great and valuable gifts that go far beyond material things. He offers abundant life on earth and eternal life with Him beyond earth. That is actually unimaginable but we do well to spend some time trying to imagine it and focusing our worship of the one who makes it available. Today take a moment and reflect on God’s great gifts to you. #BeTheEdge
