Proverbs 7:25 NIV

“Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths.”

Like we saw yesterday Solomon is very concerned about sexual temptation and sin. Perhaps knowing his father and mother’s story added to that concern. It might have been his own out of control relationships. JWA Org. reminds us, “Solomon, third king of Israel (reigned c. 968–928 B.C.E.), is said to have had a harem that included 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kgs 11:3). His wives were to have included the daughter of Pharaoh, as well as women of Moabite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite origins.” Now that’s a person who didn’t put many, or any, restraint or boundaries around his sex life. I’ve mentioned before that we live in a sex saturated society. Almost every form of entertainment offers temptation in this area. Over 40 years ago I was with Jay Kessler when he made the statement that the average junior high student faces more sexual temptation on their way to and from school than our grandfathers did going out looking for it on Friday and Saturday night. As a grandfather now, I want to go on the record that not all grandfathers are doing that. In all seriousness though that was before social media and the explosion of the internet. More than ever before we need safeguards and accountability in our journey to protect us from what Satan realizes is a powerful arrow in his arsenal. Today protect your eyes, mind and heart. #BeTheEdge
