“Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”
If I could memorize well I’d probably be a lawyer. Thankfully a Political Science and Counseling Psychology majors did not require much memorization. In other words it’s not my thing. However over the years I have learned the incredible value of having God’s word readily accessible in my heart and mind. When working with teenagers I once shared an important verse with a young man going through a struggle. He asked me to show that verse to him in the Bible. When I did the sense of the verse was accurate but the wording was a little different. I saw skepticism in his eyes and from that moment on I learned verses word perfect in the American Standard Version so if they looked they saw I told them exactly how it was written (actually translated). This proved powerful in my ministry to teenagers. I don’t really push people for word perfect memorization. I’m thrilled when a leader understands the essence of God’s eternal truth and lives it. The point is to get into His powerful truth and incorporate it into every thought and action of your life. It will bless you and those around you. Today learn it and live it. #BeTheEdge
