“Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power.” ‭

Solomon is affirming justice in government. He is telling Kings and governments that wisdom blesses those who govern justly. Talk about opening a can of worms today. Thankfully there is a lot more application to what Wisdom offers in this passage. You can legitimately expect your government to be blessed and a blessing when it operates by God’s truth. However, I think we would be hard pressed to find one that truly operated that way throughout history. Even the leaders of God’s people rarely did. Unless you hold elective office the power of this verse and chapter is seen by us when we act with truth and justice, balanced by love, in our everyday interactions. We are not off the hook of obedience to this truth because we aren’t in control. In many cases we are in control of someone. Children, employees, volunteers are all people who need servant leaders operating by God’s example. Too often leaders excuse their harsh or unjust leadership by blaming those they lead. The writer is challenges us to find good counsel and sound judgment in God’s wisdom. He offers the great gift of insight as well. How many times could conflict be avoided with a glimpse of insight into what is really going on in the hearts and lives of those we are responsible for? Today lean on God’s wisdom and lead justly. #BeTheEdge
