“Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars.”
Wisdom’s seven pillars, according to Scripture, are: fear of the Lord, instruction, knowledge, understanding, discretion, counsel, and reproof. This is a solid list of gifts God offers through His wisdom. He invites us into His kingdom, and then He gives us everything we need for life, peace, joy, and freedom. These seven pillars make a strong foundation on which to build our future. Today, we have witnessed homes and buildings destroyed and washed away by powerful storms. Lives are ruined, many are lost, and futures are put at risk. Despite what the world throws at us—and today, it is fierce—God offers a secure place to plant our lives. Even if our physical bodies succumb to the world’s attacks, we can rest in the reality that, even then, we are safe and secure within His seven pillars. As the storms unfolded and continue to rage, I have watched and talked with many believers who have mobilized to help. They did not wait for anyone’s permission. They are not looking for others to go first. They are loading up and moving into the crisis areas boldly, compassionately, and humbly to love and care for the hurting and broken. They will enter the world of the hurting one at a time and surround them with the seven pillars of wisdom. Today, go as you are sent. #BeTheEdge
