Proverbs 27:17 NIV

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

I could write a book on this verse. I may one day. This is the foundation verse of The Edge ministry. In its simplest understanding it means God wants us to help each other be better people. How can that ever not be a great thing? This verse appears at the bottom of “The Edge” logo. As I’ve worn shirts with the logo on it I have had numerous people come up to me and mention how important and inspirational it has been in their lives. Law enforcement and military personnel have made up the majority of these encounters. One particular soldier told me he used it every day with his special forces unit while they were in the battle field. Benson puts it this way, “Iron tools are made sharp, and fit for use, by rubbing them against the file, or some other iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend — Quickens his ingenuity, enlivens his affections, strengthens his judgment, excites him to virtuous and useful actions, and makes him, in all respects, a better man.” I’m not sure we’ve ever needed to practice this more than we do today. Today be The Edge with every life you encounter. #BeTheEdge
